Dog Days of Summer

Your pooch is sprawled out on your living room floor. Tongue out. Panting. Desperate for a belly rub and a cool treat. Well, we can’t provide the belly rub but we can give him a delicious frozen snack!

Try out these pup-approved recipes!

PB&J Pop

Ingredients:
1/4 cup Essential Everyday peanut butter
2 cups strawberries, chopped (frozen or fresh)
1/2 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)
1 3/4 cup Essential Everyday plain yogurt, divided

First Layer:
1/4 cup Essential Everyday peanut butter
3/4 cup Essential Everyday plain yogurt
Add peanut butter and yogurt to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth

Second Layer:
2 cups strawberries, chopped
1/4 cup Essential Everyday plain yogurt
Add strawberries and yogurt to a blender or food processor and blend until smooth

Third Layer:
1/2 cup Blueberries
3/4 cup Essential Everyday plain yogurt
Mix blueberries and yogurt

Directions:

  1. Pour an inch or so of your first layer mixture into the bottom of each cup.
  2. Allow to freeze for 30 minutes.
  3. Repeat pouring the layers, allowing them to set 30 minutes in between, until they are all used.
  4. Freeze for 8 hours.

Banana Pops

Ingredients:
4 cups Essential Everyday plain yogurt
2 tablespoons Essential Everyday peanut butter
3 bananas, ripe, peeled & mashed

Directions:

  1. Blend all the ingredients to a puree in a food processor.
  2. Pour into 4 ounce plastic cups.
  3. Freeze until firm.

Store the treats in the freezer for up to 2 weeks.

Cheeseburger Pops

Ingredients:
Leftover burger, crumbled
Grated cheese
Wild Harvest organic chicken broth - low sodium

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to an ice cube tray. Freeze and play fetch!
