SHOP ‘n SAVE® CONTINUES COMMITMENT TO MILITARY FAMILIES, DONATES $20,906 TO FEHERTY’S TROOPS FIRST FOUNDATION

Check Presentation Ceremony to Take Place at SHOP ‘n SAVE in Youngwood on Tuesday, July 19 at 10a.m.

Pittsburgh, Pa. – July 18, 2016 – SHOP ‘n SAVE®, the independently owned and operated grocery chain with more than 90 stores in Western Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, Ohio and West Virginia, is proud to present the Feherty's Troops First Foundation with $20,906, with all proceeds directly benefitting military families in-need.

SHOP ‘n SAVE continued their commitment to military families through their title sponsorship of the 2016 SHOP ‘n SAVE Westmoreland County International Airshow. For the second year in a row, SHOP ’n SAVE sold $1 flight wings in-store for customers to “earn their wings” with all of the proceeds going directly towards the Feherty‘s Troops First Foundation, an organization that provides meaningful assistance to military personnel who have been wounded while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Through this initiative, SHOP ’n SAVE is proud to present the Feherty‘s Troops First Foundation with $20,906.

In addition to their fundraising efforts at the store level, SHOP ‘n SAVE partnered with Eckrich and Operation Homefront to provide a year’s worth of free groceries to a military family from Saltsburg, Pa. totaling $13,500, or about $260 a week.

At the 2016 SHOP ‘n SAVE Westmoreland County International Airshow, funds for military families were also raised at the official SHOP ‘n SAVE tent area where the grocer, along with Sunoco and Eckrich, raffled off gift and fuel cards.

In total, SHOP ‘n SAVE raised close to $40,000 for military families in need through fundraising efforts prior to the Airshow and during the two-day event.

“Our fundraising efforts on behalf of organizations like Feherty’s Troops First Foundation and Operation Homefront is the least we can do to show our appreciation to military families who have sacrificed so much,” said Rich Haeflein, Advertising Account Manager at SHOP ‘n SAVE.

A check presentation ceremony will take place at the Youngwood SHOP ‘n SAVE on Tuesday, July 19 at 10a.m. The Youngwood store employees and management will have the honor of presenting the check to Feherty’s Troops First Foundation during the ceremony. The Youngwood store raised the most of any SHOP ‘n SAVE location through their in-store fundraising efforts, with $6,526 in donations raised through the Earn Your Wings campaign.

Local community members and media are welcome to join SHOP ‘n SAVE at the Youngwood store on July 19 for the check presentation ceremony.
