SHOP 'n SAVE independent owners and operators, customers, vendors and employees are committed to helping MDA find a cure for neuromuscular disease.
During the 2017 fundraising season, the SHOP ‘n SAVE group raised and donated $42,606 to this worthy cause. In addition to employees at all of our stores selling green and gold Shamrocks to help with the fight against muscular dystrophy, SHOP 'n SAVE and MDA also hold the Walter Knopp Golf Classic in July.
The selling of shamrocks for MDA means that we are able to expand the visibility of our organization and increase awareness of muscle disease in the communities in which the families we serve live. With this visibility, we are able to raise funds to send children living with muscle disease to MDA summer camp, fund research, fund our care centers, and fund our equipment loan closets. The shamrock program is a way for everyday consumers to contribute and support our organization and the families we serve, with the hopes of one day finding a cure for neuro muscular diseases, including ALS.
This year, for a second time in a row, the New Castle SHOP ‘n SAVE sold the most shamrocks raising $3,127 for the MDA. We want to thank the independent owner, Dan Falcone for all the effort and dedication once again this year.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is the world’s leading nonprofit health agency dedicated to finding treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and other neuromuscular diseases. It does so by funding worldwide research; by providing comprehensive health care services and support to MDA families nationwide; and by rallying communities to fight back through advocacy, fundraising and local engagement.
