Shop ’n Save® Celebrates Grand Opening In Punxsutawney With Week-long Celebration

Former Punxsutawney County Market Re-Opens as SHOP ‘n SAVE April 14 at 10 a.m.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – April 4, 2016 – The grand opening celebration for the new SHOP ‘n SAVE, located at Groundhog Plaza, 201 Hampton Avenue in Punxsutawney, Pa., will take place on April 14, 2016, with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. The new store, formerly a Punxsutawney County Market, re-opens as a SHOP ‘n SAVE under the ownership of local businessman, Tim Krise. As an active member of the Punxsutawney community for more than 25 years, he immediately began making improvements to the store in October 2015 by restocking inventory, making aesthetic updates and offering lowered prices throughout.

“We’re proud to introduce SHOP ‘n SAVE to our community and provide an elevated shopping experience,” said Tim Krise. “As the new owner and operator of this store location, I am proud to stand behind a company that is committed to offering premium grocery items while also giving back to the communities in which they serve.”

The Punxsutawney SHOP ‘n SAVE underwent extensive updates leading up to the store’s grand opening, including new hardwood flooring, lighting and an expanded deli and bakery section, among other aesthetic improvements. Customers describe the new store as “warm and inviting.” The fully stocked grocery store offers a wide variety of fresh produce, dairy and frozen food, along with prepared food items, a full-service bakery and meat with on-site butchers. In addition to the renovations, the store has reduced prices on over 2,000 grocery items.

Also, beginning on April 14, a passenger shuttle van service is available to transport customers within a 10-mile radius. This service will pick up customers from their homes, drive them to Groundhog Plaza only (no additional stops) and return them to their pick up location; a purchase minimum of $50 worth of merchandise from the SHOP ‘n SAVE store is required. This service is available every weekday excluding major holidays. Customers can schedule a pickup by calling 1-814-938-9632 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. daily.

All are welcome to attend the Punxsutawney SHOP ‘n SAVE Grand Opening Week Celebration from April 14 through 20. Customers are invited to stop by the registration desk inside the store to sign up or renew their SHOP ‘n SAVE Perks Card. All customers will receive a free 4-pound bag of Essential Everyday® Sugar and one entry form to enter to win one of 10 prizes including Clint Black concert tickets, a gas grill, a chain saw and more (limit one per-customer). Lastly, all registrants will be eligible to win a three-minute, in-store shopping spree. During the spree, all items they can grab in the designated time period will be theirs to keep and the monetary value of those items will be donated to the Saint Vincent DePaul Food Pantry. The drawing for all prizes will be held on Wednesday, April 20 at 5 p.m. Entrants do not have to be present to win. Limit one prizewinner per household.
